Graphite pencil and oil in antique frames. This series is inspired by Greco Roman and other iconic sculptures by artists like Rodin. The central question is quis iudicat formam, a Latin phrase that translates to who decides or defines beauty. The painting with words is the phrase written over and over in script or block letters. The works are inquisitive of the value we put on these sculptures that are objectively beautiful but also falling apart, missing limbs, and sometimes decaying and yet we we tend not to extend this grace to ourselves or others, who we judge harshly.
